EASTER WEEK. The city of Sangolqui is known for its deep Catholic faith. That is why in Holy Week a series of religious events are held, like the traditional “Via Crucis” where biblical characters participate, represented by faithful devotees, accompanied by local believers.. This religious event begins in the San Sebastian neighborhood at the height of the Civic Plaza Rumiñahui, travels along Abdon Calderon Avenue and culminates in the church of San Juan Bautista of Sangolqui.
It is important to notice that in these dates, traditional families elaborate certain delicious dishes that are not found in other months of the year, like the exquisite fanesca and bread of singular size, which are accompanied by the common jam of guava.
